I really thought you were joking. You mean you actually believe what
your wrote? What's next? Black helicopters?

It appears as if I totally failed in my attempt to explain current
Republican
thinking. I wasn't kidding. But much worse, neither are Dick Cheney and
friends.
However, just as obviously, it's clear that most of you are not reading
your
Friday National Review reading assignments that Denys is providing at
great
effort on his part. If you were, you wouldn't be suspecting that those
three
statements were a joke.
Nevertheless, you can verify -- or at least get a sense of -- the
underlying
philosophies of current Republicanism by going to Google and typing in
the
three following phrases:
"starve the beast"
"the road to peace runs"
"war is the natural state"
(with the quotes). There are numerous variations on these phrases, thus
if
you type in too much of the basic phrase, you'll filter out many of the
better
pages. Nevertheless if you were entertained by my explanations, you'll
be
thoroughly fascinated -- indeed downright agog -- by the
neo-conservative
explanations of the same ideas.
