Let me see if I reading all this correctly:
FACULTY & STUDENTS don't want to be here at 10:00 they prefer 9:25;
FACULTY & STUDENTS want the announcement available through the media by 5:00
a.m. not after 6:00 a.m.; FACULTY & STUDENTS comprise the "vast majority of
people on campus" and are basically the "primary customers"; FACULTY want
salary adjustments & STUDENTS are outraged at tuition hikes while BOTH want
to know where university budget allocations are going.
And what about STAFF?
On this particular snow day, STAFF were required to be here at regular time
inspite of inclement weather. As you may know, STAFF are generally here
long before faculty and students arrive on campus each day and long after
they leave. They work behind the scenes and perform their duties so that
the university will continue to open & close its doors each day, all day,
regardless if FACULTY and STUDENTS are here. And yet, STAFF are oftentimes
not even mentioned when campus issues are addressed except when it comes to
budget CUTS and NO RAISES.
So PLEASE, whether the discussions or decisions are about inclement weather,
salary adjustments, where to cut budgets, etc. remember to include &
consider the STAFF that work on this campus.
They are IMPORTANT and VITAL to the success of this institution.
