Thank you to everyone who responded to my email. Once again the UTC folks
have offered some great suggestions. I have summarized the responses in a
list below.
Gas Appliance company on Hwy 153
The Fireplace Store on Hwy 153 (could be the same as above)
Reese Plumbing 877-7586 (Marge Fergason's son) or home number (847-0645)
Red Bank Heating & Air
Jeffrey Doolittle (645-9594)
Bearman, in Middle Valley/Hixson
Buddy Reese, 240-4397 (Might be Reese Plumbing above, not sure)
A supplier on McCallie Avenue
Danny Carroll @ 362-5402
Gas Appliance Unlimited
United States Stove Factory Outlet on Rossville Blvd (867-5544)
Robert Ledford 580-3519
For anyone interested, I purchased my gas logs at Home Depot, but they do
not install them. David Pittinger made some very good points in his email,
an excerpt is below.
"Any certified plumber should be able to make the connection as the logs are
really no different than a stove, oven, or hot water heater. The logs should
have all the safety features built in, thus allowing an install and go set
up. The situation becomes more complicated if you have a wood mantle on your
fireplace. If it is within 24 inches (it may be less), you will need to
install a metal deflector on the opening of your fire place. You may also
want to consider closing the flu of your fire place. We had ours sealed
three years ago with no ill effect and all (ok probably most of) the heat
and humidity directed into the living area. "
Thanks again and happy heating!
