I'm sure many of you have faced this but since I have a small shop (read me)
with a stable HP3000 system I've never had to face this.

I already upload one fixed ASCII file with Reflection for processing with a
PC Based zip code program.

Now another program I will need will not process fixed length ASCII files.

I've decided the easiest way to create the file is to simply build 2 files
on the HP at the same time - the fixed length and the character stream -
using the DEB$ function in BASIC to strip trailing spaces - insert a tab or
comma for field delimiters and a c/r for record "end" - but what is the best
way to set the file equation - or BUILD statement in MPE?

Is a variable length file the way to go? I've never used one of those on the
3000 in 25 years...

With Reflection I "assume" I would set the rec length at 1 with this
scenario...

Thanks and happy holidays to you all!
