Subject: Re: [HP3000-L] OT: 10 Commandments

So that is what you call the ten commandments. We call this the Ten
Expressions by G-d. There are actually 13 commandments in this portion of
the law. This is why I did not recognize the name ten commandments." Our
traditon actually believes the Bible contains 613 commandments.

The ideas expressed in these Divine Expressions are lofty indeed. Any
Theocracy should use them as the basis of there civil system. Even
non-Theocratic states would agree that 6 through 10 (Do not Murder through
Do not coerce things from your fellow) are pretty sound. For anyone
interested I will try to recreate my treatise on this passage of the Bible
in an emailable format.

Once again I have a hard time understanding why this Alabama Justice is
trying to use this Biblical passage as a tool to divide the people he is
supposed to serve. (As a proud graduate of the Birmingham and Selma jails I
never thought I would use the words Justice and Alabama in the same sentence
but there you are.) His right to believe is not in question, he has the
right to believe. His right to coerce others to believe or pay lip service
to his beliefs is also not in question, he has no right.

I myself believe in the authenticity of the Bible. I am willing to discuss
this with anyone, anytime, OFFLINE of course. I will try to explain to
anyone that comes of their own volition. While those in power may have, as
TR said,"A bully pulpit" it was never intended to be a "bully's pulpit." As
King Soloman said in his wisdom, "Your paths are the paths of pleasntness
and your ways lead to perfection." I therefore say, if what you are doing
causes unpleasantness for yourself or others then it probably isn't the way
of G-d.

Be pleasant and work toward perfection.

Pray for Peace,
Yosef
