Dr. Beth Dodd and Ms. Ginny Reese in Continuing Education recently
received $10,910 from the Tennessee Department of Education in order to
provide professional development training to healthcare instructors in
Hamilton and surrounding counties.
Currently Tennessee has significant personnel shortages in the
healthcare professions. To counter this deficit, the State Department of
Education wants to encourage youth to pursue these careers by
integrating healthcare into the K-12 curriculum. Dr. Dodd and Ms. Reese
have designed their program to better prepare teachers to bring elements
of healthcare into their own classrooms. They will offer regional Math,
Science, and Reading teachers a series of workshops, conferences, and
other professional development events.
Congratulations to Dr. Dodd and Ms. Reese! Your initiative will enhance
the educational experiences of local students and provide the region
with a diverse, motivated, highly skilled health professions workforce.
