Ms. Cynthia Wood and the Center for Community Career Education (CCCE)
recently received $10,000 from the Hamilton County Department of
Education. These funds will enable Ms. Wood and her staff to continue
offering career development workshops for parents of students
participating in the county's Lights On! program.

Ms. Wood will offer services to parents of Chattanooga Middle, Dalewood
Middle, John P. Franklin Middle, and Orchard Knob Middle students. Ms.
Wood and the CCCE staff have been successful in implementing development
workshops for parents of Lights On! participants in other Hamilton
County schools, and they plan to replicate that success for the parents
served by this program.

During the workshops, CCCE staff will guide parents in activities
designed to help them with career exploration, professional etiquette,
resume writing, and interview skills. Ms. Wood hopes that these parent
workshops will empower parents to extend their child's learning into the
home.

Congratulations to Ms. Wood and CCCE! This development initiative will
enhance the employment experiences of the parents involved and will
enable them to set positive examples for their children.
