Mr. Jonathan Looney, Director of Financial Aid, has recently received a grant of $53,460 from the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC). This award will enable Mr. Looney and Financial Aid staff to continue the TSAC-funded peer-counseling program for high school students. As in years past, the peer--counseling program will recruit UTC students from a variety of backgrounds and train them to understand the financial aid process.

Mr. Looney and Financial Aid staff will place UTC peer counselors in local high school guidance offices so that they can assist high school students in accessing post-secondary educational opportunities. With the heavy work-load of high school guidance counselors, peer counselors are an innovative way to inform disadvantaged and minority students about Tennessee’s post secondary educational opportunities.

Congratulations to Mr. Looney! Your efforts to continue this program will enhance postsecondary enrollment in the state and strengthen the relationship between UTC and local high schools.
