[log in to unmask][log in to unmask], 23 Oct 2003 13:08:47 -0400398_- I have all my cats fixed, so I don't have the problem of having to get 5
friends to help me lug 1512 felines around in sacks.

We're making our plans to host the Texas version of the Wake here at our
office on Lake Travis in Austin, so I thought I'd plug our venue to the
list. We'll be getting under way at noon on Friday, October 31 with chili,
tamales, burgers, hotdogs, and beers. Feel free to bring a side dish to
share. Of course, some of us will have to work that afternoon, but we'll
continue mourning through the evening with a bonfire and more beers.
Halloween costumes are optional, but encouraged.

We've already had a few people register and we even had some joker register
Sandy Kurtzig (founder of ASK Software and creator of MANMAN) although when
we tracked her down we discovered the prank (she'll be in Cuba that week).
Hilarious.

Go sign up at Alan's site at http://207.21.244.161/hpwake.

Subject: [HP3000-L] HP3000 WWW "World Wide Wake"

Hi Folks

Stealing a very good idea from the Irish, and acting on the responses to
the suggestion that we informally organise a good old fashioned World
Wide Wake the evening of the 31st October to officially see the HP3000
out.

We have set up a server where people can register suggested locations,
and add their name to attend a location.

http://207.21.244.161/hpwake

The idea is that someone picks a pub/bar in a particular town, and
anyone within striking distance can make their way there.

This is not an officially organised event, but a way to informally
organise to get together for a drink, a meal, or what ever, in a host of
local locations around the world.

On the HP3000 World Wide Wake page, you can view already suggested
locations, add new ones, or indicate to the location proposer that you
would like to attend.

Nothing entered on the page, will be recorded off-line or used for any
type of marketing, and the information will be deleted after 31st
October.

Please feel free to forward this email to anybody you know who works
with, or has worked with the HP3000 and who might like to get together
to see him/her/it into retirement.

PS. There is a great little caricature drawing of Carly and Winston at
the site for those who visit.
