Not that isn't really painful to use.  These days you just hook a PC up to
the network and run Ethereal:

   http://www.ethereal.com/

Which is free and runs on Linux and Windows.  It can do pretty much
everything that the $10,000 Lanalyzer and Sniffer tools used to.
