did you eliminate the Samba Log Files ? they may slow down the performance!
they sit in /SAMBA/SMB207/var/

best regards, Andreas

Anyone else seeing severe performance issues w/Samba 2.2.8 on 6.5?

I have both smbd and nmbd running pri=CS on a 957 with almost no
other activity.. over a 10/100 hardwired network.

I can do a few browses and a file update or two per session. Before
things just "hang up".

Anything to look at?

I'm mostly testing using Frontpage2000 and browsing/modifying web
pages. I can make a couple quick changes to one page before it
hangs up. Every file browseing operation is "painful"... :-/
