Dr. Helen Eigenberg of Criminal Justice and Legal Assistance Studies recently received $99,336 from the Department of Justice for the final year of her two-year Transformation project.

In this project, Dr. Eigenberg and her staff are implementing a comprehensive campus-based advocacy program to prevent violence against women. The staff holds information sessions, training programs, and a student-led Peer Education Group to educate the campus about violence against women. The Transformation Project also holds public awareness campaigns and events to raise awareness about violence.

Dr. Eigenberg and project staff offer support services to victims of violence including victim referrals to community agencies and group counseling in an environment of trust and confidentiality. Dr. Eigenberg received one of only a limited number of Grants to Reduce Violent Crimes Against Women on Campus awarded by the Department of Justice in 2002.

Congratulations to Dr. Eigenberg and her staff! Your combined strategies of education and support help UTC maintain a safer campus.
