The Political Science Department is pleased to announce a new course offering:
Political Science 421r: Special Topics in Public Law: The First Amendment
This course is an in-depth study of the issues and case law involving the
First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, including free speech, freedom of
the press, religious freedom and freedom of assembly and petition.
Instructor: Dr. John Friedl, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic
Affairs at UTC and a tenured member of the Department of Political Science
Dr. Friedl earned a PhD in Anthropoloy from the University of California at
Berkeley and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School where he
served as Associate Editor of the Michigan Law Review.Dr. Friedl practiced
law in Detroit, Michigan before joining the faculty of Wayne State
University Law School where he also served as Director of the Center for
Legal Studies. He has taught courses on Education Law, Intellectual
Property Law and Law and Anthropology.
