I was missing a line that said "Binary" before the get in the FTP
commands.

The file you've received is THCTX1.DATA, not THFILE.DATA, so in this
step (which I presume is some form of an FCOPY command) what happened to
THCTX1 in the interim?

In this case, however, you are receiving the raw file as THFILE.DATA
and processing it straight away:

so if there was "something" that changed THCTX1 into THFILE, then
you've skipped that in the FTP version...
