For scripting FTP activities (like polling a remote server and
downloading/uploading files at regular intervals), you might also
consider looking at Java or Perl. Both have libraries for dealing
with the FTP protocol and are probably more convenient/flexible
than extensive CI scripting.

The HP3000-L archives should have Java/Perl ftp examples.

Note however, that Java and Perl ftp activities will most likely
only understand bytestream format for the files, so you might need
additional /bin/frombyte or /bin/tobyte calls if your context has
a pressing need for MPE specific record formats.

Lars.
