This should not affect UTC based computers, and only targets
Windows-based PC users of the AOL online service. The magazine Wired
is reporting that AOL users are receiving gray pop-up windows claiming
to be from AOL billing. The pop-up directs the user to visit a website
to "correct" problems with their credit card numbers. At the site, the
are asked a variety of personal information including credit card
number, mother's maiden name, and social security number. If you
receive such a popup, ignore it. AOL has posted instructions on how to
avoid this problem which is available by using the AOL Keyword "Pop-up"
Please remember to always be suspicious of email, popups, or websites
that ask for personal information. You should only enter such
information when absolutely necessary after making sure you are at the
correct web address. For example, if you are buying a book from Amazon
make sure the address for the web page that is asking for your credit
card ends in amazon.com. The popup scam website was "updated.com"
