Some of the newer IBM FTP servers have the function to convert the data from
ASCII to EBCDIC.  You would not need to do this.  Check in to if your server
does this for you.

Hello All, and welcome to Monday,

I'm having some trouble with an FTP transfer to a VMS system (at least
FTP reports that, "Remote system type is VMS").

I'm trying to send a 180 byte fixed ASCII file that the remote site
would like to receive as a 180 byte fixed EBCDIC file. I fcopied my file
to convert it to EBCDIC, and specified bin in my FTP to send it binary.
What they claim to be receiving is a variable record file that is not
EBCDIC.

What am I missing???
