Can an 18GB drive be used for Ldev1?

I used an 18GB drive for LDEV 1 (boot drive) even though it only sees 4Gb.  Not
a big deal.

The systems seems to run just fine.  Now someone is telling me that the 18GB
disc should not be used for ldev 1 and could cause problems?

Are there any gotcha's I am unaware of?
