Back in the late 80's or early 90's I got passed over
by a headhunter for a job that required VPlus experience
and then I had it listed as View. Wasn't there a name
change for that around the MPE/V to MPE/XL days?

My favorite ad is something I just saw last week,
requesting someone running the program Linux under the
operating system Windows. Perhaps they were looking
for VMWare experience, but I doubt it.

No, the original name when the product came out about 1980 was View. As
I understand it, HP had violated some trademark with View and then
changed the name to V/3000. When no one knew what the hell that product
was, though it was a Sci-Fi show in the 80's about human appearing
reptiles looking to conquer Earth and eat us, it changed to VPLUS/3000.
All this occurred before MPE/XL. On MPE/XL, it is called VPLUS/V
indicating that it's in compatalblity mode, except HP made VPLUS native
mode not long after MPE/XL came out. :RUN HP32209B.PUB.SYS vs
HP32209S.PUB.SYS to see the difference. Of course the alternate API
interface to VPLUS, HI-LI (HIgh Level Intrinsics) has always remained in
compatability mode. Me I liked DEL.
