When PA-RISC came out, ca. 1988, it was MPE/XL. It became MPE/iX when they added the posix shell, in release 4.5, I think. I'm less certain about the date. Roughly 1995? Anyway, to say that your MPE/iX experience started then would be to understate your experience. Most people consider XL and iX to be the same thing.

Subject: an HP3000 history question
On my resume I list that I have HP3000 and MPE experience. I got a call
from a broker that
was concerned that I didn't have experience in MPE/iX. I didn't think to
list that, any more
than to list that I have HPe3000 experience. However, since he was
concerned that the client
was requiring MPE/iX experience, and I didn't list any, I tried to think
of how many years
of MPE/iX experience that I have and I honestly don't know.
Did MPE become MPE/iX when the first PA-RISC machine came out in the 80's?
Or was that a later change, much like the e3000?
Wasn't paying attention now was I...
