Just a quick reply to the sendmail problem.   Take a look at this archive for some notes on Streams/iX:

At the point the problem is seen, do you also see errors in the shell if you use pipe ?   It would be interesting to see the output of the streams buffer manager memory: strcntl.net.sys -M

As Mark says, it would be good to get a call into the RC, install the GR patches and work towards collecting further data on the problem.
