This also works fine for me on 6.0 PP2.
Unfortunately, functionality on the posix side of MPE seems to vary
greatly between OS and patch levels.
This is one of the reasons I have stayed on 6.0. Even though I have
always been an upgrade junkie, looking for any excuse to upgrade to the
latest and greatest version of the OS, I have found nothing pulling me
forward from 6.5 on. And in fact see many 'enhancements' that concern me
enough that staying on 6.0 still feels like the right choice.
