Ernie, Mount the same tapes and do the following
file t;dev= "tape device number" usually 7 or 8
restore *t;;directory
This will take a few minutes and it will re-build all your directory
structures.
I am assuming you have restored all your files.

Subject: [HP3000-L] QMS START (Technikal stuff)
Happy Monday,
We went to a Mod 20 disc array this weekend, which
caused us to wipe out everything and start from scratch.
Helpful hint: When doing this, be careful not the mangle
your directory. When I started the RESTORE @[log in to unmask]@, I somehow
corrupted the directory and after waiting patiently for approximately
3 hours for the restore to complete I found out that most
user's passwords and home groups were missing. Back to the INSTALL.
This time, I did a RESTORE ;;DIRECTORY and was able to see that
home groups and passwords were indeed there before proceeding to
the RESTORE @[log in to unmask]@. I was concerned about some of the parameters
I used in the original restore and did a Break and Abort and
according to the HPRC, that is, most likely, when the corruption
occurred.
Now for my question...
When I do QMS START, I get the following error...
**********
Copyright (C) 1999 Technikal, Inc.
17 01 Flag File ERROR (Open)
ERROR - File Error 39
**********
And the batch job won't stream. Any clues????
I have called the Technikal folks, but haven't had
a return call yet.
Thanks,
Ernie
