We've had a problem getting JTMAIL to talk to qmail because it doesn't follow
the specifications regarding "bare line feeds" when terminating a message.
It works fine with sendmail, though.  When you say that "it seems to fail
on the handshaking," does that mean that it fails before it sends any info,
or just that it doesn't complete properly?
