The necrobiotic nature of this cheerful article reminded me of
a book which I bought a couple of days ago and which I have in my
hands as I write this note.

I drove around the Grand Canyon with my family (using Hoover Dam and
the Navajo Bridge as my instruments to go from the North Rim to the
South Rim and back). We did a lot of hiking and I told my kids: "Be
EXTRA careful on the edge". Fortunately, they were EXTRA careful but,
sure enough, along the way, they really understood my advice when we
picked up a book called "Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon". Here
are some tidbits (which include technical terms, such as "Y2K" and
"high water mark", that will bring smiles to MPE-IMAGE users).

If you believe that everything interesting about the Grand
Canyon has already been written, you're dead wrong...

Gripping accounts of all known fatal mishaps in the most
famous of the World's Seven Natural Wonders...

These episodes span the entire era of visitation from the time
of the first river exploration by John Wesley Powell and his
crew of 1869 to that of tourists falling off its rims in Y2K.
These accounts of the 550 people who have met untimely deaths
in the Canyon set a new high water mark for offering the most
astounding array of adventures, misadventures, and life saving
lessons published between any two covers...

Dedication: For the millions who come to Grand Canyon in the
future, that they each may walk away enriched -- and in one
    piece.

HP's e3000 Software Product Manager Michael Schneck would benefit
from reading this book. In addition to Mr. Schneck, every hp3000
user in the world would benefit from reading this book (Mr. Schneck,
in all probability, is NOT an hp3000 user). ISBN: 0-9700973-1-X.

Be EXTRA careful, as you go over the hp3000 edge!
