Yes I know they have been around for quite a while, but a hack is still a
hack no matter how long it is present.

While the UDC's do a pretty good job of hiding the command complexity, they
do not change the fact that you must have the same account/group created in
the system volume set and any private volume set(s). This can lead to
confusion with where the data actually lies for backups or capacity
planning.

When HP added POSIX to MPE it would have been the perfect time to add an
alternate method that tied into the HFS. A simple mount command could have
been used to allow volumes mounted directly under the root to contain MPE
accounts while other volumes could be mounted farther down the tree for use
strictly with the HFS syntax.

But I do agree that the benefits do outweigh the clumsy implementation.
