I don't know if or how it relates to the "Too many open files" error 71,
but 8224 and 538976288 are very suspicious numbers when errors occur.
When two ASCII blanks (i.e. " ") are interpreted as a 16bit 2s-complement
binary integer the value is 8224. Likewise four blank bytes (" ")
interpreted as a 32bit integer yields 538976288. That often happens when a
buffer with binary fields is clobbered by something overwriting it
incorrectly. It can also happen when trying to interpret improper
locations in memory. Either way, it often indicates something is seriously
broken in the application.
