Hi

Sometime ago I mentioned my problems with using Java (not so much the
language, just the deployment and stuff around it, beans, JSP, Ant,
Classpath, etc) and suggested .NET as an alternative.

I got some excellent feedback from the list about my issue (thanks).

Anyway I finally got the time to follow up.

We are reaching a point where I want to pick a standard language and a
standard development platform. My background is mainly Powerhouse and
Cobol. We have been using Tomcat and writing JSP applications. It's been
hard, like it is with any new language or environment, but the rest of the
development team are trying to persuade me to use .NET or PHP.

So, I wondered if anyone out there has some great advice for us. We want
all our applications to run in a browser. We are considering any or some of
the following: PHP, Delphi, JSP, Java Beans, C#, Jbuilder, Eclipse, Jboss,
BEA Weblogic, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server.

Basically we are at the first cross-roads and would like to pick the right
direction and stick with it, but trying to evaluate the best solution, is
very tough. We are a mid sized company and most of our applications will be
simple reports and forms.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
