I presume that everyone has noticed by now that the HP3000-L newsgroup
frequent posters' names are being harvested and being put in the sender's
namespace, under all kinds of email subjects, in an attempt to get you open
email attachments that you wouldn't otherwise open.

Although the people who are doing this are getting quite clever about how
they're going about this kind of thing, sometimes an amateur slips in and
sends out his scurilous little bit of email out to everyone in the clear, as
the one I've attached below did. As you can see, except for the names at the
very end of the list, are all recent posters to HP3000-L or comp.sys.hp.mpe.

At the moment, and probably for quite some time to come, I wouldn't open any
attachment from anyone without first verifying that they truly sent it to
you. And anyone who is dumb enough to open an unknown ".exe" file from
anyone, no matter whose name is registered as the sender, not only gets what
he deserves, but will henceforth forever be branded as a tyro, a neophyte of
the realm.
