Yes, it's true. I have several customers for which I have installed mod20's
that are attached to and configured with 2 FWSCSI controllers on the HP3000.

Here's the math:

If using ONLY raid 1 (mirroring) you can still effectively use all 20
disks.  You would use 16 of them to represent 8 raid 1 (mirrored) luns, 2
hot spares and  2 cold spares. The spares use up no luns.

However, by utilizing raid5 luns, you could use all 20 disks even without
spares.

And, you can mix raid 1 luns with raid 5 luns in the same mod20.

(Incidentally, for performance reasons, I would stay away from raid5 use,
unless limited to use for archival, read-only type of data.)

For me, the proof is in the pudding.

I have at least 2 customers using 128MB  SP's with no problems.

If you have the impression that I like the mod20, you would be absolutely
correct.
