Hmmm, really strange.  While up in SINGLE-USER mode, the engineer did a
restore of the SYS account contents as well as doing all the necessary
VOLUTIL work.  He then did a reboot and START NORECOVERY and let the box
come up normal and all is fine now.

You would think that doing an INSTALL would have been enough.

Really strange.
