In my ongoing adventures with Patch/iX (also using the LATEST versions
straight off their ftp site) one of my updates the other day failed also -
though it failed in Patch/iX while trying to create the CSLT. Patchi/iX
aborted telling me there was a file missing from INSTALL.SYS. In examining
the logs, I found the file (don't recall the name right now - it wasn't an
XL/NL but was an HP file) and copied it into the INSTALL.SYS group manually.
After which I ran Patch/iX, let it recover, and it was then able to create
the CSLT tape, which did let me successfully update the system.

Methinks there are a few problems with Patch/iX of late...

Subject: [HP3000-L] More PATCHIX grief

Here is the setting. MPE/iX 6.5 PP3+. I'm trying to install the latest
TurboIMAGE patch, TIXMCX3B, by staging it.

Of course I downloaded the latest version of Patch/iX (you have to now
because the web page does not tell you what the current version is),
downloaded and unpacked the patch and proceeded with the installation.
Everything went fine - I've done this thing a number of times before - until
I went to reboot after setting the stage in Stageman. The system aborted
rather spectacularly:

ISL> start norecovery
MPE/iX launch facility

I reboot and at the ISL prompt I go into stageisl and set the stage back to
BASE, cross my fingers, do a start norecovery and I'm back in business as if
nothing had happened (one of the nice features of Stage/iX). Sure enough, I
look in the staging area and there is no NL.PUB.SYS.

Patch/iX gave no errors. In fact during the initial process, it shows
NL.PUB.SYS being copied into INSTALL.SYS. However, when it gets to the point
of creating the staging area, while it mentions SL.PUB.SYS and XL.PUB.SYS,
it does not say anything about NL.PUB.SYS (I know because I went through the
entire process again from scratch looking for any mention of NL).

Anyone ever see something like this before?
