Hi

I don't know if this is your problem, but we had a similar issue after a
subsystem install.  I had to set all the user,group,account and program
capabilities again to fix the problem.

Eben,
There may be information in the log files. In particular
/usr/local/samba/var/log.nmb. That may not be the correct location if
your
/usr/local/samba link doesn't point to the base Samba directory and you
will
need to look around to get that file. The file is appended to as your
restart the NMBD process, so getting the records around the time of the
job
ending is probably the most helpful.
