Jim's parable -

A Parable:

A man buys a gun. He buys several guns. He lives far away. He is
cruel to his family and abusive to his neighbours. He lies. He
steals. He hurts. He cheats. He threatens those about him. He
threatens you. He is despicable.

.......

Jim -

I take exception to your parable in that it does not fit ths Iraq situation
in that the description above is not strong enough to fit Saddam. He has
done more than be 'cruel' to his family. He has poisoned some of his kids
and has used torture as a form of discipline. He has done more than
'threaten' those about him. He has invaded his neightbors house and held
hostage members of the family for months, he killed those who stood up to
him. When the authorities finally got around to driving him out, he set
fire to the neighbors house when leaving. He has obtained weapons which
can target those far away.

The other exception I take is that the UN has not been an effective tool
at preventing people like Saddam from doing what they do, in spite of
how it is patterned after the US Constitution. Conversely, the US
Government has been pretty effective at preventing wars between the
different states fo the USA. The last oen was over 100 years ago, and
no state has attempted to resolve matters between them by war since.
