I do like the O'Reilly series of books.  They tend to have a lot more
relevant info per page.  A large number of computer books now devote lots of
pages to basic concepts like what's an integer as well as trying to teach
what's "good" and "bad".  The difference between a reference manual and a
textbook seems to be getting very blurrrrrrrred.
