Hi Art,

We keep our rooms at around 66 degrees and we use an FM200 system
which I believe is dry. I'm not sure on that. And yes ! :) we have offsite
storage for all our systems. (Not a Newbie by any stretch of the phrase :) )
Even if I knew all these variables, which I could get numbers on, is there a
floor space calculator that I can plug these numbers into? Or is it as
tedious as adding up all the costs for a particular location, and divide it
by the square footage of the rooms? Let me know what you've done in the
past.

Thanx
  Dane

Hi Dane :)
um.... standard answer???: "It Depends" :) hehe

Truthfully tho, if you are including total cost of operation as part of
a
square foot cost calculation then it is really going to vary since you might
keep your data center a tad warmer than I like to keep the ones I have
managed
in the past.... (Art Frank will attest that he used to refer to my office in
the
data center as being Arctic in nature! hehe)

Also, you need to include the cost of maintaining the fire suppression
system
(is yours a dry pipe? or wet pipe or hybrid system?) Plus the cost of your
backup solution and offsite storage (you do keep the backups offsite right?
hmmm)... You may or may not need to also cost in the phone line costs for
your
support lines ie Predictive modems...

Just some thots :)
Art "doing open circuit surgery on a Linux box to be! hehe" Bahrs
