Greetings Gurus,

My thanks to all of you for your help with my UPS message problem. Several
of you responded to me privately regarding a patch that HP developed to
update the UPSUTIL program. I was running on version 7 (I'm on 5.5 pp7).
But, starting with version 8 or higher of the program you can configure
the powerfail message to go to the console only or ALL connected sessions.
I just got off the phone with HP support. I should have it by Monday. To
get the necessary patch you ask for MPELX33 just like Tim Atwood wrote
below:

"Yes, available on earlier versions. Requires a patch on some earlier
versions. We are on 6.0 PP2. The patch you need to install on 6.0 is:

MPELX33B UPS Monitor/iX support for PowerTrust II UPS, powerfail message
config

Works great. The powerfail messages only go the console now. (After
updating
the config file, etc. as per the instructions of course)."

Thanks Tim!! And a special thanks to all of the other Listers that
offered up their consolatory remarks. Now, I just hope there aren't too
many more powerfail incidents that occur before I can patch the system.

This truly is a great List,
