The National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced a competition date for
its Teacher Professional Continuum (TPC) program. The TPC program funds
projects that enhance preparation and / or provide teaching resources for
K-12 teachers of science, technology and mathematics (STM) courses.

NSF will fund projects that produce resources to aid STM teachers, projects
that develop mechanisms to recruit, support, and retain STM teachers, and
projects that implement innovative models and strategies to enhance the STM
teachers’ curriculum. Please consider (1) serving on a review panel for the
TPC program or (2) applying for TPC funding.

Faculty members selected to serve on a review panel will have the chance to
meet and share ideas with other experts as well as NSF and TPC program staff
members, developing vital relationships and being exposed to innovative new
programs. Serving on a TPC review panel will significantly increase your
ability to compete for future TPC funding. Faculty interested in applying
to be reviewers should contact the Office of Grants and Program Review with
their vita information as soon as possible.

The TPC program this year anticipates awarding between 25 and 35 new grants
ranging from $250,000 to $1 million in funding. Any faculty members
interested in developing a program for consideration must submit a
preliminary proposal by May 19, 2003, and the full proposal deadline is
September 10, 2003.

More information about the Teacher Professional Continuum is available on
the NSF website at the following address:

If you are interested in becoming a reviewer or applying for funding, please
contact the Office of Grants and Program Review.
