Dear Faculty and Staff,
The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department has been instructed by
the CDC to develop a plan to immunize all of Hamilton County's citizens
should one case of smallpox be diagnosed in the United States.
To accomplish this task, the Health Department may need to run mass
immunization clinics at various locations across Hamilton County for 10
days. A total of approximately 2,500 staff will be needed.
Hamilton County Executive, Claude Ramsey, has asked our participation as a
Corporate Partner in this effort. UTC has agreed to be a partner and is
fully supporting the Health Departments' efforts to identify, train and
supply staff for these clinics if they are ever needed.
The Health Department will present additional information regarding
smallpox, the vaccine, and how you can be part of the staff for the mass
clinics on Wednesday, February 26, at 1:30 p.m. in Fletcher 114.
Please plan to attend this session. If you need additional information
prior to the meeting, please call Richard MacDougall at
425-4244.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to participate in this vital
Homeland Security issue.
Bill Stacy
