Mate!  That's not humiliating at all.  It's showing presence of mind by
proper and appropriate re-distribution of resources to the betterment of the
environment.  ( I was always told that you're not a sailor until you've been
seasick - and it certainly didn't do anything to detract from Nelson's
reputation!) :-)

It only becomes humiliating when you up-chuck to windward - particularly
from the upper deck of a multi-deck vessel!  :-)
