If an ACD is defined then you can use the 'altsec' command to remove of alter the ACD to allow access by the operator user. This may be because some drivers are more familiar with the use of a hand
signal that does not in fact require one's window to be rolled down. This
signal, pointing up, apparently means "go ahead, accelerate past me". I
usually respond by blowing a kiss to indicate my gratitude.
I used to see this signal quite a bit, before I moved to the Boston area.
Here, apparently, my driving style fits right in.
