This looks like the usual problem that MPE file system is record based - whilst Windows files are bytestream. The HP FTP client is adding either a CR or LF character to your file so that the record structure can be understood by Windows applications.

Either convert the MPE file to bytestream or to transfer the original file using bytestream FTP. (The latter is enabled by typing BYTE at the FTP prompt).

Hello Everybody,

I am having a problem FTP files off the HP3000 to a Windows 2000
Server. Some how in the FTP process an extra byte is being added to the
end of each record. Before the file is FTP it's record size is 150 bytes.
Once it's on the Win 2000 Server the file has a record size of 151 bytes.
Do I need pass any special parameters to keep the file at a fixed width?
Has anybody seen this problem before?

FTP Log:
run ftp.arpa.sys
ftp> put CK000009.EDATAOUT
200 PORT command successful.
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for CK000009.EDATAOUT.
226 Transfer complete.

File Record:

FILENAME CODE ------------LOGICAL RECORD----------- ----SPACE----
SIZE TYP EOF LIMIT R/B SECTORS #X MX

CK000009 150B FA 1 50000 1 928 1 32

Thanks,
Brennan
