The MS web site has the largest knowledge base for problems and issues with
MS software. I would urge you to go to the MS web site, click on the
support tab on the top right hand side and scroll down one to knowledge
base. I selected SQL Server 2000 and typed in "service won't start". It
came up with a panoply of articles and actions. Since I know absolutely
nothing about your exact problem, I could go no further, but you should be
able to pinpoint a solution in just a few seconds.

Subject: OT: M$SOFT SQL SERVER
I got my 120 day free trial version of SQL 2000. I installed it on my XP
box at the house. The service(daemon) does not start up. What do I need to
get to where I can build my database.
Thanks
