Stan Smith, Program Director of UTC’s AmeriCorps program, has received a
$1,920 Program Development, Assistance, and Training (PDAT) grant from the
Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration.

Mr. Smith will utilize the funds to attend AmeriCorps retreats where he will
share ideas and strategies with other Program Directors. With state
support, he and other AmeriCorps members will be able to take part in
training and peer-exchange programs at the state and national levels, and
they will have the opportunity to attend state-wide AmeriCorps events as
well as the National Service Conference in Baltimore later this year. These
development activities will enable Mr. Smith and his staff to enhance the
services that UTC’s AmeriCorps program offers by implementing proven
strategies to foster reading skills.

Congratulations to Mr. Smith! These funds will ensure that UTC’s AmeriCorps
program maintains the high level of excellence for which it is known.
