from the console
you may also have to ABORTIO dev# a few times

My DLT 4000 was not detected at reboot by my HP6000 ( 6.0)
The message was : ...... configured but non available

I'm testing it on my pc and it's working

After have been replugged it on my HP3000, how to validate without
reboot ?
I don't remember the command ( startio, startdevice or something like
this)
I hope the scsi card is not out of order
