Some companies offer china replacement service for broken
plateforms (such as Mikasa or Princess House), and they 
require that you send the broken plate in.

However I usually go to a factory outlet or the "Pottery 
Barn" and get new ones.  But I've never been offered a 
trade-in at those places.
