Which unfortunately is logical on the part of the 'contributors'. In a world
where you have to "contribute" in order to influence what
government/politicians do or don't do, the smart and somewhat unethical
approach is to 'contribute' even if you have to 'contribute' to multiple
candidates. Kinda like paying protection money to two rival gangs. Now
imagine a somewhat different world in which government/politicians/etc. had
far less power... Not much point in 'contributing' as an investment if the
people you 'contribute' to cannot do much for or against you.
