These are called spoonerisms, named after Rev. William Archibald
Spooner (1844-1930), an Anglican clergyman and educationalist
ultimately at Cambridge University who allegedly was quite nervous
when speaking publicly. I found this rather amusing when taught it at
school and remember it to this day (correctly, or not). I know, I
know, there would have been better things to remember.
