No matter if you are using a HP terminal, Reflections, Minisoft, or
QCTerm. You can connect those "Hard-wired" LDEV's to a COM Port on the
PC it-self. Then tell your favorite terminal emulator to connect using
that COM Port, that's "Hard-wired" same as any HP Terminal would be.
If that's not an option, then you can look into the IP address. If your
Telnet and/or NS-VT client machines have "FIXED" IP addresses, then you
can use that address in the same way that you are using LDEV.
I'm about 99.9% positive that the escape sequences are the same for the
terminal emulators that you mentioned, for example:
IF HPREMIPADDR = 'nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn' then
Echo ![chr(%33)]&w 6f 80X
else
ECHO ![chr(%33)]&w 6f 132X
Endif
Another option could be that I don't understand your question ;-)

When we Telnet in to our HP3000 with Reflections or QC Term we are
limited
to 80 characters as returned by our HP3000. Telnetting in assigns
random
device numbers and we never know which device a session will use. How
do
you change this to default to 132 character mode for a Telnet session.
Our HP terminals are hard coded devices so therefore it is easy to
assign
132 character mode - Any ideas are appreciated.
