CDs come in either audio format(s) or data format(s).
You can put .mp3 (almost typed ".mpe" !), .wav and other types of audio
files on a data CD, but an audio-only player couldn't play them. I have a
dvd/cd player at home that can read both audio and data CDs.
Most CD readers on PCs can read both audio and data CDs.
